Synopsis of Red Peony Gambler
In the mid-Meiji period, the leader of the Yano-gumi gang of Kyushu gamblers was assassinated. His only daughter Ryuko (played by Junko Fuji) disbanded the gang and searched for the murderer using the wallet left next to her father's body as a clue. Ryuko carried the Kodachi and traveled to casinos across the country for five years, earning the nickname "Red Peony Aaron" for his outstanding gambling skills. In a casino in Iwakuni, Ryuko exposes the banker's cheating methods, causing a dispute. Fortunately, the wandering gambler Katagiri (played by Takakura Ken) comes to help. After breaking up with Katagiri, Ryuko learned the whereabouts of Shin, who had seen the killer's appearance, and set out to search for him. Later, he became brother and sister with the leader of the Bear and Tiger Group, Kokichi (played by Tomisaburo Wakayama). Recommended by Xiong Hu, Ryuko and Axin went to visit Kagurai (Oki Minori), the second generation leader of the Sense family in Osaka, but accidentally learned the truth here...
