Synopsis of Mary and Martha

Hilary Swank and Brenda Bryce play Mary, an American interior designer, and Martha, a British housewife, respectively. The two have nothing in common except for one thing - they lost their sons. Mary took her young son (Lux Hane-Jadan) to Africa for an adventure, but she did not expect that the latter was killed by malaria, which made Mary fall into deep self-blame. Her marriage to her husband (Frank Chirillo) is also in jeopardy. In Mozambique, Mary accidentally met Martha, whose adult son (Sam Claflin) also died of malaria while working as a teacher there. These two very different women formed a solid friendship and devoted themselves to humanitarian work to prevent malaria in Africa. With selfless dedication, two once-sad and despairing mothers found themselves again, and their actions showed the world that even the most ordinary people can bring about change and make the world a better place.
