Synopsis of Sophia
In Russia in the 15th century, the last Byzantine princess Sophia Paleonina came from Rome to distant Moscow to marry Tsar Ivan III and was destined to become the first important woman in the Russian Empire. She defeated the palace intrigues, helped Ivan consolidate the fragmented country, drive away the Mongol invaders, and build the Kremlin, a symbol of Russia.
