Synopsis of Imagining Argentina

The story takes place in the picturesque Buenos Aires, Argentina. Carlos (played by Antonio Banderas) is a playwright who is famous for having created several successful scripts. Carlos and his wife Cecilia (Emma Thompson) have been married for many years, and their relationship has always been very loving. Cecilia is a journalist and well-known in the industry. She and Carlos have always been regarded by friends as a golden couple and a perfect match. However, one day, because the press release she wrote offended the sensitive political nerves of the authorities, Cecilia was secretly detained in a concentration camp. With his wife's life or death uncertain, Carlos fell into despair and pain. He was willing to pay any price to have his wife return to him. Strangely, since Cecilia disappeared, Carlos discovered that he had acquired a special ability - he could discover the whereabouts of people who were secretly arrested like Cecilia through the photos of them.
