Synopsis of WWII in HD

Created for History Channel by award-winning director, writer and producer Frederic Lumiere, this 10-episode high-definition documentary uses thousands of hours of archives and footage, never-before-released diaries, and audio recordings from the Library of Congress to explore the lives of those encountered during World War II. The eyes of a group of people tell the story of World War II in high-definition color images. This greatest conflict between civilizations has been mentioned countless times. A Frenchman cried uncontrollably as German soldiers marched under the Arc de Triomphe, the U.S. military raised its flag on Mount Suribachi, and the mushroom cloud rose over Hiroshima. These are all "familiar" images. The History Channel used the latest technology and its own way to recreate this period of history (released in the fall of 2009), for which the audience has been waiting for half a century. Utilizing high-definition full-color footage, 1,500 hours of restored archives and newly shot footage, never-before-released diaries and records, and Library of Congress audio materials, the History Channel opens a unique window into the war for viewers. Let the audience look at the war through the eyes of a group of people who met during World War II. Documented in history or on the History Channel...
