Synopsis of Down to Earth

The little man Lance Patton (Chris Rock) is determined to become a professional comedian, and his greatest dream is to become famous at the Apollo Theater, a palace of amateur actors. But his acting skills were poor, but he was unlucky and couldn't get a chance to get ahead for a long time. Returning home one night, Lance was involved in a serious car accident and died. His soul went to heaven, only to find that the heaven staff had got the name wrong. With the help of Mr. King (Chazz Palminteri), the person in charge of heaven, Lance is allowed to return to the world, but because his body has been destroyed, he must use the body of others to resurrect. At the same time, Manhattan tycoon Wellington (Brian Rhodes) had just been killed by his wife (Jennifer Coolidge) and her mistress. In order to get closer to the girl he likes, Lance agrees to possess Wellington, thus starting a new life...
