Synopsis of The Man Who Will Come

In 1943, in the countryside of Bologna, Italy, the eight-year-old girl Martina (Greta Zucceri Montanari) awaited the birth of her little brother with hope. Martina refused to speak after her last brother died in her arms, for which she was often teased by the village children. But everyone in the family loves her very much, including her aunt Benin Mina (played by Alba Rohrwacher) who came back from the city. Martina's father Armando (played by Claudio Casadio) works hard to feed the family. Although he supports the local resistance army, he has to sell agricultural products to scattered German Nazis. As the conflict between the Resistance and the Nazis escalates, war is getting closer. Martina silently observed everything that happened in the village, and the killing and death that finally came that she could not understand. The film won the Jury Silver Award and Audience Choice Award at the 2009 Rome Film Festival.
