Synopsis of Open Your Eyes
The inheritance that 25-year-old young man Cesar (played by Eduardo Noriega) inherited from his parents who died early made him have no worries about food and clothing. His frequent changes of girlfriends gave him an unruly reputation in his circle of friends. However, recently Cesar was attracted by a woman Nori. In order to get rid of Noelia, Cesar turns to his friend's girlfriend Sofia (Penélope Cruz). The story switches to prison. Cesar, who has a terrifying face, is detained on suspicion of murder. Doctor Antonio is coaxing him to tell what happened. It turns out that Noelia drove Cesar outside Sofia's house, and a car accident occurred on the way. The latter was disfigured... Cesar woke up from his dream and had a date with Sofia in the park, but he soon discovered that the date in the park was just a dream. The doctors could do nothing about Cesar's face, and soon he signed the contract in a hazy state. After an agreement, the hospital's new equipment miraculously restored Cesar's appearance, but he discovered that Sofia was actually his fictional character. Cesar could not distinguish between dreams and reality, and decided to find the truth of the matter with Antonio... The film won many professional awards including the Tokyo Governor's Award at the 1998 Tokyo Film Festival.
