Synopsis of Paranoiac
Eight years earlier, when Tony was a youth, he had left a suicide note and had apparently jumped off a seacoast cliff, but his body had never been recovered. An adult who looks like Tony shows up, claiming he just ran away. Eleanor wanted to believe that man was Tony. Harriet Ashby (Burrell), their aunt, is immediately hostile, calling the man an impostor. Simon pretends to be more open-minded about the situation. However, Simon knew this man was an imposter, as he actually tricked Tony into writing a suicide note and then murdered him. Full of remorse for his crimes, he then hid the body behind a brick wall in a chapel on the estate (facts not revealed until near the end of the film). Sometimes, when feeling down, Simon would retreat to the chapel and pretend that his brother was still alive. He would play gramophone records of Tony singing, while Simon would play the organ in the company of his doting aunt, who would wear strange makeup and play the part of his dead brother. "Tony and Eleanor secretly observed the ceremony through the window. Eleanor was seen by Harriet out of the corner of her eye. Aunt Harriet slipped out and tried to attack Eleanor, but was stopped by "Tony." Then...
