Synopsis of The Lovers

The newspaper owner's wife Jeanne (played by Jeanne Moreau) is tired of the boring family life, and her lover's indifference fails to give her more spiritual comfort. Jeanne, who is not willing to live an empty life in the mirror, seems to be looking forward to some adventures. An encounter with the young prodigal Bernard on the road rekindles her love fantasy. Although the two did not get along at the beginning, his youthful spirit and independent thinking gradually inspired her to dislike vulgar life. In fact, deep down, the two of them are generally rebellious by nature. After a boring social dinner, the two met in the garden as if they had a tacit understanding. Then they went boating by the stream and walked in the fields, surrounded by clouds and rain in Wushan Mountain, and they were confused and infatuated. At dawn, Jeanne left her stunned husband and friends behind and drove away with Bernard, not thinking about whether there would be a tomorrow or where they were going.
