# Synopsis of The Earrings of Madame de...

The story takes place in Paris at the end of the 19th century. Among the bustling upper class society, a lady named Louise (Danielle Darrieux) is particularly dazzling. Louise's husband is a very prestigious general, and the story begins with a pair of earrings given to Louise by the general. In order to pay off her gambling debt, Louise sold her earrings to a jewelry dealer at a low price and lied to her husband that the earrings were missing. Forced by the general's reputation, the jeweler told the truth truthfully. The general quietly bought the earrings back and gave them to his long-time mistress Laura (Lia DiLeo) to please her. However, not long after, the earrings came to Italian diplomat Denati (played by Lia DiLeo). Vittorio De Sica (played by Vittorio De Sica) and eventually returned to the original owner and returned to Louise.
