Synopsis of The Fountain

In 1500, General Thomas (Hugh Jackman) was ordered by Queen Isabella (Rachel Weisz) to travel to the New World to find the legendary "Tree of Life." Just drink a drop of the tree's sap and you will gain eternal life. After many hardships along the way, we finally reached a glorious hidden place and saw a strange sight that we will never forget. In 2000, brain cancer expert Tommy (Hugh Jackman) is eager to find a good medicine for his wife Liz (Rachel Weisz) suffering from brain cancer. The research team brought back a specimen of a strange tree species from the jungles of South America, which miraculously produced effects when extracting medicine for experiments on chimpanzees. In the year 2500, Tom traveled through space in a transparent spherical spacecraft controlled by his thoughts. In the vast interstellar space, there was only the dying ancient tree beside him. He thought about the memory of Liz all the time. In the thousands of years of rushing time and space, what I have been searching for is the true meaning of life...
