Synopsis of Joint Security Area

In the joint security area on the border of Panmunjeom, one day, a North Korean soldier (played by Shin Ha-kyun) in the post was killed by an unknown bullet, triggering a gun battle between the two sides. The most suspected murderer was a South Korean soldier on the border, but South Korea accused North Korea of stirring up trouble in the first place. Both sides believed that their rivals should be responsible. In order to solve this unsolved case, the North and the South agreed to have a neutral country conduct investigation and coordination. Sophie (played by Lee Young-ae), a Korean girl with Swiss nationality, is sent to investigate the incident. Lee Soo-hyuk (played by Lee Byung-hun) on the Korean side has always remained silent, while Oh Kyung-pil (Song Kang-ho), a survivor on the North Korean side, has shown hostility, making things confusing. With in-depth understanding, Sophie discovered that there was an inside story hidden in the matter, and there was someone else at the scene...
