Synopsis of Innocent

At the end of World War II in 1945, Mathilde, a female doctor from the French Red Cross, was treating wounded soldiers in Warsaw. One night, she was invited to the convent to treat a nun who was about to give birth. It was only when the doctor entered the monastery that he saw the horrifying truth. The monastery was invaded by the Soviet Red Army during the war, and many nuns were sexually assaulted and even became pregnant. Not only were the nuns mentally and physically traumatized, but their faith was also shaky. However, this scandal was not allowed to be made public... The film was directed by Anne Fontaine, a well-known European female director, and received overwhelmingly positive reviews at the Sundance Film Festival at the beginning of the year.
