Synopsis of Wings of Desire

Berlin is guarded by two angels, one is Cassirer who looks at the suffering of the world indifferently, and the other is Damier (Bruno Ganz) who is often sentimental about human suffering. The two wore large angel robes and wandered around the city, listening to people's prayers and silently observing people's inner world. The worries of Circus Marian (Solveig Dommartin) aroused the sympathy of Damier. Because the circus was not well managed and faced with bankruptcy, Marian was full of troubles. This angel performer in the circus moved Damier's heart, and he decided to become a mortal and pursue a happy relationship. The film won the Best Director Award at the 40th Cannes International Film Festival in 1987.
