Synopsis of Welcome to Dongmakgol
During the Korean War, there was a remote mountain village called Dongmo Village near Jiangyuan Road. The people there are isolated from the outside world and live a self-sufficient life. They don't even know that there is a war outside. Pyo Hyun-cheol (played by Shin Ha-kyun) and the health worker Moon Sang-sang (played by Xu Jae-kyung) of the South Korean National Army came to Dongmo Village because they escaped from camp and fell behind. At the same time, Li Xiuhua (played by Zheng Zaiyong), veteran Zhang Rongxi (played by Lin Helong) and young soldier Xu Zeji of the Korean People's Army also arrived in Dongmo Village. Before that, the American pilot Captain Smith (played by Stephen Teichler) also came to the village because of the plane crash. When soldiers from both sides met, tensions were high. Later, the tense confrontation gradually calmed down and they did not invade each other, but there was still a lot of hostility. In contact with the simple villagers, the soldiers got used to the peaceful life in Dongmo Village. Later, even if the war came to the village, soldiers from both sides decided to take up the task of defending Dongmo Village.
