The Innocents

The Innocents

Synopsis of The Innocents

The film is adapted from the novel "The Turn of the Screw" by Henry James. At the end of the 19th century, the beautiful female teacher Miss Giddens (Deborah Kerr) came to the country manor to take care of her employer's niece Flora (Pamela Franklin) and nephew Miles (Martin). Stephens (played by Martin Stephens). Soon, Miss Giddens found that she often saw strange images, as if the house was haunted by ghosts, and the children were possessed by demons, saying or doing overly mature and weird words or actions. The housekeeper Mrs. Gross (Megs Jenkins) revealed to her that all this may be related to the underground love affair of the late former governess and housekeeper. Miss Giddens is desperate to rescue the children from the devil's clutches, but could the ghostly figures she sees be just her own hallucinations? The film was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in France, and was nominated for Best British Film and Best Film by the British Film and Television Association.
