Synopsis of Repulsion

Carol (Catherine Deneuve), who came to London from Brussels, is an employee of a local beauty salon. In this bizarre metropolis, the young and beautiful Carol tried her best to suppress the restless desires in her heart, so she showed some anxiety and neurosis. Although the handsome young man Colin (played by John Fraser) is persistently pursuing her, Carol would rather stay with her sister Helen (played by Yvonne Furneaux). Compared with her nervous sister, Helen seems to be quite adaptable to this society. She fell in love with a married man, and the two made an appointment to travel to Italy during the holidays. However, Helen's departure brought Carol's spirit to the brink of collapse, and an irreparable tragedy unfolded... The film won the 1965 Berlin International Film Festival Silver Bear Special Jury Award and the International Film Critics FIPRESCI Award.
