Synopsis of Edvard Munch

Plot: "Edvard Munch" (Edvard Munch, December 12, 1863 - January 23, 1944), Norwegian expressionist painter and printmaker. The strong spirit and emotion of the subjects of his paintings, as well as his strong and evocative treatment of psychological distress, had a major influence on the growth of German Expressionism in the early 20th century. His work "The Scream" (Norwegian Skrik, also translated as "Scream", written in 1893) is regarded as a symbol of the extreme pain of post-industrial modernization. This biographical film roughly follows the chronological period from 1884 to 1894, when Edvard Munch began to create expressionism and became the most controversial and maligned painter in northern Europe. The film also goes back to his mother's death from lung disease when he was five, the death of his sister, and his own near-death from lung disease when he was 13. The film also reviews Munch's brief love affair and some of his political activities in the Norwegian capital and Berlin, Germany.
