Synopsis of Leo the Last
Italian star Marcello Mastroianni's first international starring films were directed by the then great British director John. Directed by Bowman. The style of the work is quite obscure, and some may find the story incomprehensible, but there are some bright and moving moments. The plot describes an exiled European monarch who returns to live in a mansion in London many years later. The place has turned into a slum, but he turns a blind eye and only concentrates on watching birds with his binoculars. It wasn't until he discovered that a girl was being forced into prostitution that he began to take action, voluntarily taking care of the girl and helping the poor solve their life problems. Later, the monarch's guards rebelled, and he and the poor burned down the mansion with fireworks. The film obviously intends to satirize the European monarchy and class structure, but the filming is a bit heavy and confusing.
