Synopsis of Amazing Grace

William Wilberforce (Ioan Gruffudd), who is only 21 years old, is persuaded by his friend William Peter (Benedict Cumberbatch) to join the British Parliament. The two men jointly led the anti-slavery movement and fought fiercely against opponents. However, the anti-slavery bill drafted by Wilberforce was rejected by Congress. The physically and mentally exhausted Wilberforce was exhausted mentally and physically by the infighting in parliament and suffered from colitis. In 1797, when he came to a friend's house in the countryside for a rest, he met his admirer Barbara Spooner (Romola Garai). Wilberforce told her about the cause he was fighting for, and the two fell in love and got married. Finally, in 1807, Wilberforce's bill was partially passed, and the ranks of the anti-slavery movement began to grow.
