Synopsis of Queers

Ben Whishaw, Russell Tovey, Alan Cumming and others join forces to star in BBC Four's blockbuster new LGBT-themed drama "Queers" (tentative translation). The drama has only one season and a total of 8 episodes. Each episode is accompanied by a monologue. The series will be directed by "Sherlock" screenwriter Mark Gatiss and is in production in the UK. The show is co-produced by the BBC and the Old Vic Theatre. Before the TV broadcast, all eight 15-minute monologues in each episode will be performed on the drama stage in July. The monologue will be written by eight authors, including Gatiss, to show the lives and experiences of gays and lesbians in British history over the past 100 years, and to present history. Ben Whishaw will star in the episode "The Man on the Platform" as a soldier returning from the trenches of World War I; Coyote will star in the episode "More Anger" as a gay actor from the 1980s; Cumming will star in the episode "Something Borrowed" that reflects on gay marriage. [Dunkirk] actor Fionn Whitehead and others will also appear in other episodes. The series will air this summer.
