"Ghost in the Shell SAC2ndGIG" is the second season of the Japanese animated series adapted from the original manga by Masamune Shirow. It was broadcast on SKY TV in Japan on January 1, 2004. The production cost per episode is as high as 30 million yen. 26 episodes in total. The content of the story continues the plot of the first TV version of Ghost in the Shell STANDALONE COMPLEX. However, the two works in the TV version have little connection with the theatrical version and can be seen as happenings in two parallel worlds. The production team of the second season of the TV version is the same as that of the first one, and the plot expression is the same as that of the first season. Each episode is composed of different stories, each independent chapter, but running through the same main line. The director of the film version, Mamoru Oshii, also participated in the plot, but the desolate atmosphere in the film version was not reflected in the second season of the TV version.
