Synopsis of Away from Her

Retired teacher Grant (Gordon Pinsent) and his wife Fiona (Julie Christie) have been together for 44 years, and they have been living a peaceful and comfortable life. But the elegant and noble Fiona suffers from Alzheimer's disease, and her memory begins to decline, which becomes increasingly serious. Fiona decided to stay in a nursing home, and Grant, who loved his wife deeply, had to compromise. The two, who have never been apart, need to not see each other for a month after Fiona is hospitalized. When Grant appeared in front of Fiona again, she found that she seemed to have forgotten Grant and fell in love with Aubrey, one of the patients in the sanatorium. Faced with this sudden change, Grant was at a loss. Just then, Aubrey leaves the nursing home, much to Fiona's dismay. Grant found Aubrey's wife and persuaded her to send her husband back to the nursing home. However, Aubrey's wife Marianne was unwilling to lose her current house due to the high hospitalization expenses. The house was everything to her. But in the end Marianne was moved by Grant's true feelings. Grant, who couldn't bear his wife's distress, took Aubrey back to the nursing home. Fiona's reaction surprised Grant...
