Synopsis of Viridiana
Viridiana (Silvia Pinal), who has been practicing in the nuns for many years, is about to take a vow to return to the sect. Her mother-in-law suggested that she visit her sponsor, Uncle Haimai, before the ceremony. Viridiana went to her uncle's mansion in the country, but Haimai unexpectedly... Intrigued by her resemblance to his wife, Viridiana was about to return to the Sisters after a short stay. On the eve of departure, Hymer begged her to put on his wife's wedding dress and propose to Viridiana. After being refused, he ordered the maid to anesthetize her with medicine. Got her. Haimai committed suicide the next day, and Viridiana returned to the mansion and decided to stay. Haimai's illegitimate son Jose (Francisco Rabal) also came to the mansion with his girlfriend, and immediately hired people to renovate the deserted fields. At the same time, Viridiana invited some Tramps and sick beggars shared the mansion, and Viridiana took care of their lives, led them in prayer, and tried to provide them with divine help. Jose's girlfriend felt disappointed and announced their breakup. While Viridiana and Jose went to the city, sick beggars and homeless people broke into the house and made the mansion a mess. This film is the second part of Buñuel's religious trilogy and won the Palme d'Or at the 1961 Cannes Film Festival.
