Synopsis of Mask

Stage actress Elizabeth (Liv Ullmann) forgot her lines during a performance. She refused to speak for several months and was sent to a mental hospital. The nurse Alma (Bibi Andersson) who took care of her was criticized by the doctor for not doing her job. The hospital arranged for her to take Elizabeth to a beach house for recuperation and treatment. After the two arrived at the villa, Elizabeth improved, but still refused to speak or respond. Alma often spoke to her in an attempt to break the silence, but still received no response, and finally had to confide in her emotional problems with her fiancé.
