Synopsis of Tucker: The Man and His Dream
In 1945, in Yplanty, Michigan, the famous automobile inventor Preston Tucker asked the Jewish financier Abe Karaz for funding for a newly designed car. This new "Torpedo" brand car that utilizes aerodynamic principles is called "tomorrow's car." Abe Karaz agreed to Tucker's request. After obtaining government approval, Tucker used an old prewar factory in Chicago as his experimental site. Tucker and the mechanics worked day and night to produce 50 cars in the first year. Finally, with their unremitting efforts, the first "Torpedo" brand car was successfully manufactured. When the "Torpedo" brand car was put into production, Detroit automakers were jealous of his invention. They launched an offensive. The three major auto companies authorized senators as spokespersons to put pressure on Tucker's company and make things difficult in every possible way. , framed Tucker, and technically controlled Tucker's company, finally causing Tucker's factory to close down due to the trial, burying Tucker and his dream. Tucker died of cancer six years later, and the Detroit Automobile Company took over all of his inventions.
