Flags of Our Fathers

Synopsis of Flags of Our Fathers

In February 1945, the Iwo Jima War, known as the "Meat Grinder of the Pacific," ended. On the fifth day of the battle, five US Navy soldiers, a military doctor, and a military reporter "created" a heroic photo, a photo symbolizing the country's victory: they planted the American flag on Iwo Jima. The high ground. When the photo hit the headlines of major newspapers in the United States, three of the six heroes at that time died heroically before they even knew they had become heroes. The remaining three who survived said nothing about the war after the war, as if they had not participated in it. Because they did not go to the battlefield to become heroes, they fought for the country. When they saw their partners around them fall one by one, they felt that the meaning of life was also losing little by little...
