Synopsis of An American in Paris

Jerry Morion (Gene Kelly) is a poor American painter living in Paris. Through his friend Adam (Oscar Levant), a pianist, Jerry met Henry, a popular French singer. (George Guétary plays). Soon Jerry was appreciated by a wealthy lady Melo (Nina Foch) and funded his painting, but he fell in love with Liz (Leslie Caron), a young saleswoman in the department store. However, unexpectedly, Liz turned out to be Henry's girlfriend. Unknowingly, Henry also advised Jerry to be brave enough to fight for love. All the conflicts gathered and intensified at a grand black and white ball. After Jerry learned that Liz was going to marry Henry, he imagined the two singing and dancing in romantic Paris for the last time. But will true love pass away forever like this? The film won six Oscars in 1951: Best Picture, Best Artistic Effects, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Score, and Best Screenplay.
