Synopsis of The Counterfeiters

In the 1930s, World War II was in full swing. And Sally (played by Karl Markovics) is proud of his superb forgery skills. He has delicious food and beautiful women at his fingertips, which makes him uncomfortable. But his good days did not last long, and he was soon arrested for his crimes and then thrown into the Mauthausen concentration camp. At that time, the German Nazis planned to produce a large amount of counterfeit currency to disrupt the economy of the Allied Powers. Sally's talent was discovered and he became the leader of this secret counterfeit money manufacturing group, but his conscience prompted him to choose another path... This film is based on Adolf Burger's original book "The Devils Workshop", which is based on the author's personal experience. The film won the 2008 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and the 2007 German Film Award for Best Supporting Actor. Award (DevidStriesow).
