Synopsis of The Singing Detective

A detective story writer (played by Robert Downey Jr.) is lying on the hospital bed conceiving the plot of a new work: a cynical private detective transforms into the lead singer of a band at night. The protagonist of the story is involved in a murder of a prostitute in Los Angeles in the 1950s... and then... As his condition worsened, he gradually became unable to distinguish between stories and reality, and his mental state fell to the edge of madness...
