Synopsis of Ashes of Time Redux

The restored and re-edited version of Ashes of Time. The film is based on Jin Yong's martial arts masterpiece "The Legend of the Condor Heroes", but the main line of the story becomes the disliked Ouyang Feng (Leslie Cheung) in the original work. Ouyang Feng left his hometown of Baituo Mountain because his former lover (Maggie Cheung) was angry at marrying his brother, and came to the desert to open a tavern specializing in killers. In his self-exile in the desert, he reunited with his friend Huang Yaoshi (played by Tony Leung Ka Fai), met the sophisticated Murong Yan (played by Brigitte Lin), and the Sunset Warrior (played by Tony Leung) who deeply missed his wife Tao Hua (played by Carina Lau) but did not want to meet each other. The stubborn revengeful orphan girl (played by Yang Caini) and the shoeless Hong Qi (played by Jacky Cheung) who are new to the world. After experiencing other people's lives and deaths and emotional entanglements, Ouyang Feng learned of his lover's death. After everything was relieved, he burned down the tavern and left the desert... The restored version is slightly different from the 1994 version in terms of picture, duration, soundtrack, title, dialogue, and shots.
