Synopsis of A Shine of Rainbows

Miss O'Donnell was a caring woman as rare as the rainbow. Happy, warm and loving, she adopts an orphan named Thomas and takes him to her new home on the remote island of Corrie off the coast of Ireland. Maire shares the joy of her island home with Tomas and introduces him to the quirky local folklore, including the secret of the seal, and tells him that everything you need is within you - if you really look if. But Mel's stern husband Alec silently disapproves of Thomas' timidity and stammering speech. He couldn't hide his disappointment that Thomas wasn't the kind of boy he'd hoped for, and his reluctance to get to know the boy left him unsure if he truly belonged. Soon, however, Thomas also falls in love with his home, befriends local children, enters a secret cave filled with bats, and rescues a stranded baby seal.
