Synopsis of Stray Dog

In the hot summer, the mentally and physically exhausted young detective Murakami (played by Toshiro Mifune) boarded a crowded and smelly bus home after finishing his shooting practice. On the way, he suddenly discovered that his gun had been stolen. He struggled to catch up, but ultimately lost track of his target. Murakami was dejected and went to Section Chief Sato (played by Shimura Joe) and asked to be relieved of his post. The kind-hearted section chief instructed him to ask Ichikawa (played by Reiyoshi Kawamura), a senior detective in the pickpocket section, for help. After being reminded by Ichikawa, Murakami remembered that a woman standing next to him on the bus was the female recidivist Ayin (played by Teruko Kishi). Unable to bear Murakami's stalking, Ah Yin revealed the information about the pistol dealer. After that, Murakami went deep into the darkest corners of the city, looking for clues about the pistol. At the same time, someone used his pistol to commit a crime, and the situation became increasingly urgent. The various living beings in Japanese cities after World War II are alternately presented through Murakami’s sharp eyes like wild dogs...
