Synopsis of In the Mouth of Madness

The best-selling horror novelist Sat Kane (Jürgen Prochnow) disappears mysteriously. Some of the manuscripts of novels written by him that were about to be published and printed also mysteriously disappeared. Kane's immersive descriptions and bold predictions made the book famous even before it was published. Many fans are obsessed with his works and cannot extricate themselves, and even commit irrational and violent behaviors. In order not to delay publication, the publisher hired private detective John Trent (played by Sam Neill) and female editor Linda Stiles (played by Julie Carmen) to track down Kane's whereabouts. John did not believe in the magic of this book at first, but when he and Linda arrived in the town written by Kane, they were both shocked. This town is really as described by Kane, and the terrifying and strange things in the novel also happened immediately.
