Synopsis of The Big Sick

Kumar (played by Kumail Nanjiani) was born in a very traditional Pakistani family. As an adult, he chose to become a comedian. During a stand-up performance, Kumar met a girl named Emily (Zoe Kazan). What they thought was a one-night passion actually spread from the dark night to the day. In the end, they discovered that they were the one they had been looking for. In the other half, the two came together. However, Kumar's family asked him to follow the Pakistani tradition of arranged marriages, and fell in love with a Muslim girl for him, urging him to return to his hometown to get married. At the same time, a strange disease struck Emily, leaving her in a coma. Kumar chose to stand with Emily's family and get through this difficult time together. At the same time, he had to resist the pressure from his own parents.
