Synopsis of Sommersby

Seven years ago, Jack (Richard Gere) left his pregnant wife Laurie (Jodie Foster) to fight in the American Civil War. With no news for seven years, Laurie took on the responsibility of taking care of the children and the family. One day seven years later, Jack suddenly appeared. And at this time, Jack was no longer rude and mean, he almost seemed like a different person. Originally a landowner, he worked diligently with the villagers in the hope of improving everyone's living standards. But not long after Laurie first felt this sense of happiness, things changed.
