Synopsis of Elevator to the Gallows

Former paratrooper officer Julian Taverni (played by Maurice Ronet) worked in an arms company after retiring. During this period, he fell in love with Florence (played by Jeanne Moreau), the wife of his boss Simon Carrera (played by Jean Wall). To clear the way, he and his mistress devised a seemingly seamless murder plan. The plan went smoothly at first, but after the assassination, minor mistakes deviated from the original idea, and Julian was even trapped in the elevator of the building. As the saying goes, misfortunes never come singly. A pair of young men and women stole Julian's car, and the situation began to develop in a chaotic direction... This film is the feature film debut of left bank veteran Louis Malle and won the 1957 Louis Druc Award.
