Synopsis of Painless

In Spain in the 1930s, a strange disease spread among children. Children infected with this disease had no sweat glands, no tears, and no pain. To prevent further harm, the authorities isolated sick children and locked them up in monasteries, completely depriving them of their freedom. The boy Benino (played by Ilias Stothart) imprisoned in the square inch is attracted by the singing next door. He becomes good friends with the girl Ines (played by Liah O'Prey) through the small hole he dug. These poor kids had to learn about pain in a unique way. In contemporary Spain, doctor David (played by Àlex Brendemühl) has a serious car accident while driving. His wife Anas (played by Irene Montalà) dies, but the 6-month-old child in her belly survives. David, who temporarily escaped death, later learned that he was suffering from fatal lymphoma, and his life was unknown when it would end. In order to get a bone marrow transplant, David had to turn to his elderly parents for help, but learned a long-hidden secret...
