Synopsis of The First Grader

For Maruge (Oliver Litondo), learning is the happiest thing in his life. However, at the age of 84, he can no longer relive the happy days in the classroom. The free education policy implemented in Kenya has given Maruge new hope, and he hopes to become one of the many students who benefit from it. Maruge's persistence and enthusiasm moved the teacher Jane (Naomie Harris), but failed to move the school staff and parents. There were voices of opposition to such a retired soldier returning to the classroom surrounded by a group of children. Unified and loud. Meanwhile, Jane is punished for her support of Maruge. Seeing that the kind people who helped him were treated unfairly, the angry Maruge decided not to give in. He wanted to challenge the rigid government.
