Synopsis of Bedevilled

Zheng Haewon (played by Ji Sung-won), a single woman who works alone in the financial industry in Seoul, is naturally under tremendous pressure from all aspects. Her emotions become more and more nervous, and she was eventually forced to take a vacation. Taking advantage of the vacation, Haewon returned to her long-lost hometown of Wudao. The scenery here is beautiful, the folk customs are rough and even a little barbaric, and the phenomenon of male superiority and inferiority to women is still very serious. Haewon reunites with her childhood playmate Jin Funan (Seo Young-hee). This is a gentle, cheerful, hardworking woman, but her husband and family regard her as a pig and dog, bullying and humiliating her at will. Funan hopes that her daughter Xiaoyan will have a better life, but in this wild place, human dignity has been trampled on. Under tremendous pressure, the resigned Funan transformed into a tragic queen of revenge... This film is the feature film debut of Jang Cheol-soo, the director assistant of famous Korean director Kim Ki-duk.
