Synopsis of Waco: The Rules of Engagement
In 1993, officers from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms attempted to enter the headquarters of the Branch Davidians, a religious organization, to conduct a search, but were attacked by firepower from Branch Davidians. This move shocked the United States. Subsequently, the FBI intervened in the investigation, and the two sides faced off for 51 days. After receiving the authorization, the FBI and the police began a violent raid. After a brief struggle, ammunition in the Davidian headquarters was accidentally ignited, causing a serious explosion, killing more than 80 people, including 17 children. David Koresh, the leader of the Davidians, was buried in a sea of fire, but the controversies they caused about religion, justice and other aspects continued for years... The film won the 1997 International Documentary Association Best Documentary Award, the 1998 Melbourne International Film Festival's Most Popular Documentary, the 1999 News and Documentary Emmy Award, and the 1999 Vancouver International Film Festival's Best Documentary Award for Honorable Mention.
