Synopsis of Restrepo

When the war in Afghanistan broke out, a large number of young Americans were sent to a hell-like battlefield. They sacrificed their lives for so-called ideals and justice, while killing lives. A field platoon of the 173rd Airborne Brigade of the US Army was stationed in the Kurungal Valley. It is said that there are many Taliban militants hiding here and it is destined to become the area with the most intense fighting. In a battle, a soldier named John Restrepo died. His close comrades could not forget it, and eventually named a captured stronghold after Restrepo. They fought in the name of justice, but could not get the support of the local people. In the next year, the friendship between the soldiers became deeper and deeper, while the shadow of war and death was always around... The film won the Jury Documentary Award at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.
