Synopsis of A Scene at the Sea

Deaf-mute young man Shigeru (played by Kuroto Maki) is a janitor. When he was cleaning up a garbage dump, he found a worn-out surfboard that had been thrown away. After picking it up and repairing it, he took his girlfriend Takako (played by Hiroko Oshima) with him. To practice at the beach, Takako is also deaf-mute. Mao's love for surfing has developed into an obsession. He goes to the beach to practice constantly after get off work, while Gui Zi always sits on the beach and looks at him with a smile. Day after day, Mao's technology is getting better and better. The owner of the surf shop gave Mao a wetsuit and gave him an application form to participate in the surfing competition. On the day of the competition, Mao and Gui Zi went to the beach excitedly, but did not participate in the competition due to an accident. However, Mao's love for surfing remained unabated, and Gui Zi continued to support him. In the subsequent competition, Mao won. A few days later, Mao went to the beach to practice again. Takako arrived late due to work, but did not see Mao. In front of him was a silent sea.
