Synopsis of The Horse Thief

In 1923, Tibetan Luo Erbu (played by Caixiang Zengren) wandered on the plateau, stealing horses to make a living. For the sake of his child Tashi, Luo Erbu sent a sacred sheep to pray for him. The headman's father died. The old woman admired the kindness of the headman's family, but at the same time she was worried that Luo Erbu would not die because of the theft. Luo Erbu and his accomplices robbed the government's gifts to the temple and planned to use the stolen goods to pay off Tashi's vow to the temple. After the robbery, the angry leader expelled Rohrbu's family. From then on, Rohrbu, his wife Dolma (played by Dan Zhiji) and Tashi had to wander on the grassland. Tashi's condition did not improve and gradually worsened. Rohrbu bathed Tashi in holy water and prayed devoutly to the Buddha for blessing, but in the end he could not save his child. Soon Dolma became pregnant again. Roerbu and Dolma kowtowed to fulfill Tashi's wish, but the suffering did not leave them...
