Synopsis of Passchendaele

The opening film of the 33rd Toronto International Film Festival. Adapted from a true story of World War I. The film tells the story of the unfortunate encounter of a pair of lovers during the Battle of Pascual, which shocked the world. The historical Battle of Passchendaele broke out on July 31, 1917 and lasted until November 6. The two warring parties, Britain and Germany, experienced a tug-of-war that lasted for more than four months. The British army hoped to capture Pascual in Belgium in order to destroy the German submarine base there. As a result, many soldiers were killed during the attack and defense - 325,000 Allied casualties and 260,000 German casualties.
