Synopsis of Nothing

The film tells the sad story of a young mother Helen (played by Anita Kuskowska-Borkowska) living a difficult life with her three young children. Her husband Anthony (Janusz Panasewicz) often leaves their mother and daughter alone. Helen, who was afraid of being abandoned by her husband, was forced to kill her fourth child. Helen shed tears of self-blame and pain, leaving her with nothing. The Polish female director uses extremely beautiful light, shadow and images to tell us this tragic story, accompanied by romantic piano, harp and many orchestras as background music. It aesthetically beautifies the pain of the characters in the film, thus arousing strong emotions. Debate and discuss. The film won dozens of awards including the Best Actress Award at the 1999 Brussels Film Festival and the Best Director Award at the Polish Film Awards.
