Marvin's Room

Synopsis of Marvin's Room

Middle-aged woman Bessie (Diane Keaton) spends most of her life taking care of two elderly relatives: her father Marvin, who suffered a stroke, and her eccentric aunt Ruth. Now Bessie herself has a blood cancer and her only hope of survival is for a close relative to donate bone marrow. Helpless Bessie had to contact her sister Lee (Meryl Streep), whom she had not contacted in 20 years. Lee is a single mother. She does not want to meet Bessie, but she thinks that she can temporarily put aside the trouble caused by her son Hank (Leonardo DiCaprio) setting fire to the house, so she returns with her son. Home in Florida. The sisters were in a good mood when they first met, but as time went by, all the unhappiness from the past began to haunt them again. Moreover, Hank, who had been in a mental hospital, was unwilling to do a bone marrow test, which broke Bessie's heart. Later, the relationship between Hank and Bessie miraculously improved, and the family relationship between the two sisters was restored...
