Synopsis of Talk Radio
After making two films about the Vietnam War, Oliver Stone made a new attempt to conduct an in-depth discussion of the social effects of radio programs. The male protagonist, Barry Chabonne, is an eloquent and cynical host of a crazy night radio talk show. He is good at guiding the audience who call in to express their opinions to talk, and often has sharp comments on hot topics in lectures. Therefore, the program has a high listening rate and he has won the opportunity to be broadcast nationwide. However, just when success and fame were within easy reach, his work partners and the radio listeners who were angered by him entered an unknown and dangerous state, and laid a shocking murderous intention. The male protagonist Eric. Bogosang is also one of the screenwriters of this film. The original concept of the film was based on a true story, describing the Denver radio host Alan Berg who was assassinated by neo-Nazis in 1984 because of his outspokenness. The editor and director made a strong criticism of the unhealthy tendencies of some radio stations to sensationalize their programs and sell personal privacy as entertainment commodities, and dealt with it in a solid and effective manner.
