The Hate La haine

The Hate La haine

Synopsis of The Hate

The film is based on a real incident of police violence that occurred in the 18th arrondissement of Paris in 1993: a police officer shot and killed a 17-year-old Zairean boy, Makomé M'Bowolé, during patrol. In the film, there is a group of anti-government youths on the streets of Paris. The dispute started when one of them was beaten and seriously injured by the police, and everyone held a grudge. Vinz (Vincent Cassel) got a real gun and decided to fight back. Their hatred and anger can be seen everywhere, and this large-scale conflict with the police is about to break out. During the melee, Vinz was shot to death by the police. His accomplices tremblingly aimed at the police's head. Gunshots rang out... Whether it was the police or street gangsters, everyone lost control. The uneasiness and restlessness in adolescence are like uncontrolled anger, and no one is immune. Director Matthew Cassavetes won the Best Director Award in the Main Competition at the 48th Cannes Film Festival (1995).
